Additionally, group and one-on-one coaching sessions are available on the following topics:
GOOD office ergonomics
Office Ergonomics is all about body mechanics. Our goal in each session is to provide your business with the knowledge it needs to minimize factors that contribute to musculoskeletal injury (MSI) or disorders. Employees will gain a basic understanding of how their workspace can impact their physical safety. They learn the science of ergonomics along with effective strategies to help decrease the risk of injury. Our Workability Educator can help your organization develop and implement a peer-leadership program to safeguard your team against physical injuries.
INVESTIGATING & REPORTING WORKPLACE INCIDENTS
In most jurisdictions, as an employer, you must complete a preliminary investigation within 48 hours of being notified of a workplace incident that resulted in (or had the potential to result in) lost work time or a need to seek medical attention. The preliminary report must include the conditions or procedures that contributed to the incident and any interim or permanent corrective actions implemented following the incident. While completing a preliminary report, your team needs to understand their legal obligations and ensure that they follow the right protocols in these situations. Our Workability Coach will familiarize your leadership team with the legal obligations of workplace safety to ensure your organization stays in compliance with WorkSafe mandates.
VIOLENCE PREVENTION
During our Violence Prevention Basics session, we provide you with a brief overview of the core responsibilities from several successful violence prevention curriculums across the public and private sectors. A Workability Educator can meet with your organization to determine which components are relevant to your niche market and develop a customized course based on your needs.
DE-ESCALATION STRATEGIES & TECHNIQUES
Our emotions tend to get the best of us when dealing with high-pressure or stressful events. We all have an instinctive drive for safeguarding our sense of safety, and as a result, we tend to react emotionally to situations that threaten or challenge us. Learning to deal with situations logically is necessary to maintain order and make the right decisions. Your Workability Educator will provide you with the theory and techniques you need to read body language, be respectful when approaching and communicating with others, and control emotional reactions through rational problem-solving.
WORKPLACE INJURY CLAIM
When occupational injuries happen, it’s a lethal requirement to report them. Various safety regulations govern the process of filing an injury claim, and navigating the jargon of filing WCB claims can be taxing for everyone involved. One of our specialized Workability Advisors can go over your organization’s responsibility as it relates to reporting a workplace injury and compensation claims. We can then coach you through the process of planning an injured employee’s return to work.

RESOLUTION TOPICS
There’s no doubt that technological advances have made it easier for team members to communicate consistently. Fostering healthy peer relationships in the workplace, however, has become more complex. Current research around employment trends shows that employee turnover is at unprecedented levels.
Employers are beginning to realize that younger generations, who form a high percentage of our workforce, require increasing care, acknowledgement, and inclusion in the workplace. The traditional — and now outdated — model of fostering company values is no longer practical. If a team member feels that their needs are unmet, they’ll search for employment elsewhere.
Our team of Workability Coaches are top-tier experts in conflict resolution, professional communication, and health and wellness. We can work with individual members through one-on-one sessions or tackle large teams to foster an inclusive company culture and help organizations increase employee retention.

CONFLICT RESOLUTION
Most workplaces are driven by deadlines, performance reviews, and reporting on end-of-day metrics. It’s not uncommon for team members to disagree on day-to-day tasks and projects. While certain disagreements can seem minor, other times, they lead to bigger issues that result in conflict. If your team doesn’t have the skills to address conflict, it may disrupt work processes and lead to toxic work environments. Workability Solutions can pair your organization with a coach to create open communication channels for constructive dialogue between team members. We can facilitate the sessions, meditate discussions, and help leaders establish the correct procedures to resolve conflict.
IDENTIFYING & OVERCOMING BARRIERS
Your Workability Coach can provide confidential one-on-one coaching with your team members to determine the underlying barriers preventing their success. The first step to finding the best solution is to identify the source of the problem. Our Coaches are experts in facilitating dialogue and prompting participants to take an in-depth and honest look into what’s holding them back. We can encourage participants to be accountable and form a plan of action to overcome barriers and be successful employees.
EMBRACING DIVERSITY IN THE WORKPLACE
The United States and Canada are home to some of the most diverse and multicultural workplaces on the planet. Diversity adds a rich layer to our society and is vital for our continued growth and success. However, conflict can arise at times due to differences that may cause a rift within a team. Through our hands-on sessions, a Workability Coach will work with your team and provide your team members with a new lens to view different opinions and perspectives. Team members will learn to accept and embrace what makes each individual unique and the value they bring to a team.

RETURN-TO-WORK (RTW) & STAY-AT-WORK (SAW) PROGRAMS
At Workability Solutions, we have top-level advisors certificated as Return-to-Work and Disability Management professionals. They have extensive experience in building and implementing successful RTW and SAW programs and can work with your team members to ensure their requirements are met. It’s in the interest of all employers to retain their employees following an absence or injury, even if they can’t perform their job duties at full capacity. Our trusted advisors will work with employers to ensure they understand the benefits of retaining employees and communicate the details of each program throughout the process. Our services will guide your organization and advise you on the best practice methods to develop your internal programs.
DUTY-TO-ACCOMMODATE (DTA)
Under certain circumstances, a functional impairment may be considered “permanent” and formal steps must be taken by you to safeguard the employee. This is typically when temporary cognitive or physical limitations still persist even after treatment. An employee has the right to request a “Medical Accommodation” if they reach a plateau in their rehabilitation or if temporary limitations do not resolve. Because this system is ‘medically-driven’ it is essential to receive appropriate medical documentation that outlines the limitations preventing them from carrying out their job duties. Employers must try to meet reasonable requests to the point of “undue hardship” where an individual is partially or fully exempt from performing specific job tasks and/or functions. Our Workability Advisors have a wealth of experience in working with both employers and employees in accommodating disabilities. An advisor will go over the details of your rights and responsibilities in these situations and mentor you as you find an equitable solution.
ERGONOMIC ASSESSMENT
By using best practice methodologies, a Workability Advisor may provide, on a case-by-case basis, individual or group ergonomic assessments of MSI risk factors present in your workplace. The formal assessment process includes a self-screening questionnaire, pre- and post-assessments, one-on-one coaching for your employees, and an executive summary for your Occupational Health and Safety records.
JOB DEMANDS ANALYSIS (JDA)
The Job Demands Analysis outlines the physical and cognitive demands of the various occupations within your organization. Use this tool to make decisions on accommodating special needs, approving leave requests, and drafting effective return-to-work plans. A Workability Advisor may provide a comprehensive JDA that you can reference when making decisions, and we can refer you to a partner provider any time we can’t meet the service requirements.
CRITICAL INCIDENT MANAGEMENT
It’s normal for individuals to feel overwhelmed when working in a demanding environment. However, when you don’t address these events accordingly when they arise, they can negatively impact your team’s ability to function. Suppose a significant event in your workplace results in cognitive, physical, emotional or behavioural changes. In that case, a Workability Coach can diffuse these events and provide one-on-one sessions and group interventions for your team. We also provide recommendations by following the mandates set out by the International Critical Stress Foundation.
